History
The origine of De Uithof lies in the year 1970. After a lot of meetings they started building De Uithof on the 17th of December 1970. On the 2nd of January 1973 De Uithof was being opened and offered an outdoor iceskating rink and an Ice Hockey dome. De Uithof quickly becomes the venue for a lot of international ice skating contests. In 1979, De Uithof hosted the World Championships Speed skating for women and in 1983 the European Championships Speed skating for men took place. Because of those successes De Uithof started their first expansion; a second training facility. When this was realized, De Uithof had become the biggest iceskating centre in Europe. There was only one thing left to do; cover the outdoor Olympic sized rink. In November 1989 they finished the covering of the 400 meter rink. In 2000 a big expansion took place. De Uithof changed from Ice Skating Centre to a multifunctional sports- and leisure centre. De Uithof now offers ice-skating rinks, an indoor snowslope, a go-karting track, a climbing wall and a health club. In 2006 the owners of De Uithof changed and with all the renovations De Uithof is ready for the future!
